About the Medical Assistant Program
With our certified medical assistant program, you will learn to manage administrative tasks like patient charting, basic insurance and billing, etc.
Hands-on training will be provided in locations near the student’s location in Houston by CCI Training Center:
- Preparing patients for certain medical procedures
- Drawing injections
- Performing basic lab tasks
The student will receive a “certificate of completion” once the program is completed. The program provides an opportunity for candidates to pursue entry-level positions in the medical field.

MED 01 Computer Fundamentals
In this introductory course, students will learn how to use computers in business settings. They will gain experience creating documents, forms, and letters in Microsoft Word and spreadsheets in Excel. The course also includes lessons on printing, basic internet research, and mastering essential digital tools effectively.
MED 02 Medical Laws, Ethics, & Professionalism
This course introduces students to healthcare’s legal and ethical aspects, including physician-patient relationships, professional liability, malpractice, medical practice acts, informed consent, and bioethics.
MED 03A Allied Health Math
The course includes the fundamentals of math skills, where the students will refresh, learn, and practice basic math skills, including consumer mathematics, decimals, percentages, fractions, and the metric system.
MED 03 Medical Terminology
In this course, students will study the fundamentals of medical terminology, including word-building rules, prefixes, and suffixes. They will also explore terms related to anatomy, physiology, pathological conditions, and medical treatments across various specialties.
MED 04 Anatomy & Physiology
This course will give students insight into basic anatomy and physiology, emphasizing how body structure and function relate to healthcare procedures.
MED 30 Electronic Medical Records
This course provides students with practical experience using medical records management software in a simulated medical office. Students will learn how to enter patient data, post charges, handle payments, run financial reports, and submit insurance claims.
MBC 01 Medical Billings & Insurance
The course introduces students to the field of insurance billing and reimbursement. It also includes effective practices for managing electronic records, including training in indexing, file management, and the connection between electronic and image records.
CEP 03 Certification Review
This course reviews all the administrative tasks and responsibilities a Medical Administrative Assistant will perform throughout their job. Also, the course prepares students to take the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) exam through NHA.
CDV 01 Career Development
The course enables students to gain vital career advancement skills, such as resume writing, interviewing, networking, effective communication, and time management. Students will also participate in mock interviews and learn how to use online job search tools.

There is no need for state licensure when becoming a medical assistant in Texas. However, employers may often prefer certifications for better job prospects. Below given are the main certifications that you can choose for medical assistants:
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA): This certification is offered by American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA). It needs to pass an exam and either meet particular work experience or complete an accredited medical assisting program.
- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA): The National Healthcare Association (NHA) offers CCMA. To be eligible the students need to complete an accredited program or have relevant experience in the field.
- Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA): This is also offered by NHA. It focuses on administrative tasks and the eligibility requirements include having relevant experience or completing an educational program.
