Medical Billers and Coders fulfill integral roles in the healthcare field such as as a Billing and Coding Technician, Health Information Specialist, Medical Administrative Assistant, Electronic Medical Records Specialist, or Health Technologist. Most positions in this field focus on administrative activities. Graduates may work in direct contact with patients obtaining health histories or completing medical billing paperwork.

Courses include general education for communication in a clinical setting, foundational healthcare training, and subjects specific to success in the Medical Billing and Coding major. Focus is placed on data organization, medical terminology, billing and coding software, and more.
