1. MED01 Computer Fundamentals

Learn how to use computers in business settings, creating documents, forms, and letters in Microsoft Word and spreadsheets in Excel. Printing, basic internet research, and Essential Digital Tools included.

With this course, students will gain insight into basic anatomy and physiology, emphasizing how body structure and function relate to healthcare procedures.

Learn the basic rules and regulations associated with pharmacy, covering the details of community-based and health-system-based operations, inventory management, and introduction to compounding and preparation of sterile products.

Students will also learn how to read prescriptions and medication orders in the hospital pharmacy setting.

This course equips students with pharmaceutical mathematics skills, including reading, interpreting, and solving calculation problems encountered in the preparation and distribution of drugs. It also amplifies a student’s ability to use percentages, dilutions and concentration, mill equivalents, units, and intravenous flow rates, as well as solve dosage problems.

Students will grasp the basics of therapeutic agents, their effects on the human body, and their role in disease management. Apart from learning the administration of drugs to pediatric, neonatal, and geriatric patients, this course will also provide information on drug dosages, side effects, interactions, toxicities, and incompatibilities.

This course covers not only prescription processing and preparation but also emphasizes pharmacy operations, workflow, and management. Additionally, it also allows students to master aspects like over-the-counter medications, complementary medicine, alternative therapies, and herbal remedies.

In this course, students will learn about hospital types, pharmacy standards, hospital procedures and orders, institutional pharmacy operations, and ways to communicate with the nursing staff.

This course will guide students through types of private insurance, group insurance, and government-managed insurance programs. Apart from this, it also provides valuable insights on pharmacy billing, inventory management, formulary drugs, generic versus trade name drugs, and drug utilization evaluation.

This course covers all the activities and responsibilities that a pharmacy technician may perform as part of his/her job. It will cover PTCB’s nine knowledge domains for pharmacy technicians and assess students’ skills in both pre- and post-subject matter evaluations.

With this course, students can develop and plan for their career advancement. They will master skills, including resume writing, interviewing, networking, effective communication, managing time effectively, and use of internet-based websites in the job search. One-on-one mock interviews will also be conducted.

After completing the program, students will participate in an externship at an approved medical facility. This opportunity provides practical experience working in the medical environment, allowing them to apply learned skills under the supervision of trained professionals and certified instructors.

NOTE: While our program thoroughly prepares students for the Pharmacy Certification Exam (PTCB or ExCPT), getting officially certified requires them to sit for and pass the mandatory industry certification exam.
