| Location | Minnesota |
| Employment | 11,840 |
| Employment per thousand jobs | 4.11 |
| Location quotient | 0.82 |
| Hourly mean wage | $23.91 |

Many students searching for medical assistant requirements in Minnesota want to know one thing first: “Do I need a state license?”
While you do not need a license to be employed as a medical assistant, employer requirements can vary. A clinic, hospital, or healthcare system in Minnesota may prefer or require:
Completion of a medical assistant training program (by an accredited school)
National certification, such as CCMA
CPR or Basic Life Support training
Background checks
Immunization records
Drug screening
EMR experience
Prior clinical or customer service experience
The safest approach is to train for the role, prepare for certification (CCMA), and review the requirements listed by each employer before applying.
